Central Transmission Utility of India Limited (CTUIL) is responsible for planning, developing, and operating India’s Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS). It began operations after being carved out from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) to ensure functional independence. It helps in facilitating non-discriminatory open access to the transmission network and coordinating with state utilities, regulators, and stakeholders. CTUIL plays a critical role in integrating renewable energy into the grid, supporting India’s target of 500 GW of renewable capacity by 2030. It also serves as the Bid Process Coordinator for transmission projects under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework.
